One of the highlights of The Wolf of Wall Street was without a doubt the fashion.
It focussed heavily on the late 80s, early 90s charm of baggy pinstripe suits and gold watches, and the man behind the on-screen portrayal of this was none other than the late great Giorgio Armani.
Armani actually created the initial sketches with the costume designers, defining how Leonardo DiCaprio would bring Jordan Belfort to life on screen.
The Navy and Grey Pinstripe Suit
The drawings he provided were relatively straightforward, with no proportional exaggerations or theatrics. He stuck to what was popular in the finance industry at the time which included large lapels, neutral colours, patterned ties and spacious, straight falling trousers.
He sketched two pinstripes, a single breasted navy and a double breasted grey, both with colourful ties as a feature piece. These are finished with either Gucci loafers or oxford shoes.
In the on-screen depiction of the navy sketch, we catch a slight glimpse at his watch worn mostly throughout the film, which is a gold-plated TAG Heuer Professional 1000 worth a modest $2,000. He also sports a diamond-bezel TAG Heuer 2000 Exclusive worth $25,000 today.
The Grey Double Brested Suit
Armani also sketched a plain grey suit, again double breasted, rolled at the bottom for correct length, and finished with loafers.
A lesser-known involvement that shows how much detail actually goes into a Scorsese film.
