Did The White Lotus Just Quietly Move on from the Four Seasons?

It looks that way. Season four is heading to the south of France to film in Saint-Tropez, specifically at Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century hilltop palace overlooking the French Riviera.
There won’t be any resort sprawl this season, rather something older with a bit more history behind it.

La Messardière belongs to Airelles, the ultra-luxury group behind some of France’s most extravagant properties, including a château inside the walls of Versailles. That should give you an idea of where on the scale this sits.
Saint-Tropez itself doesn’t really need explaining. It’s not overly huge but during the summer it becomes crowded and vibrant. Beach clubs fill early, boats stack up offshore, and the town turns into a loop of long lunches, late dinners, and people watching. Everything happens quickly, and very publicly.
The hotel is deliberately removed from all of that. It’s set across roughly 30 acres above the town, with gardens, pine trees, and long views over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. There are fewer than 90 rooms and suites, multiple pools, a large Valmont spa, and private access down to Pampelonne Beach. Rates climb quickly, especially in summer, and privacy is very much part of the appeal, though bookings are currently closed which tends to happen as film crews move in.
Filming is expected to begin this spring, with additional scenes in Paris and possible ties to Cannes. Details are thin, as they usually are this early, but if the setting is anything to go by it will be one to mark in the calendars.
