Mercedes have revealed the Vision Iconic, a long-hooded electric concept car inspired by the 1930s.
It blends retro design with modern curves and alongside the elongated hood if features an illuminated grille and a โsolarโ paint that can generate enough energy for up to 12,000 km of driving per year in optimal conditions. The goal here is to not replace charging but reduce dependence on it.
It draws heavy inspiration from the 1938 Type 540K Autobahn-Kurier and hints at the design direction for future high-end sedan releases, including the next S-Class.
The car will also remove mechanical connection, using an experimental steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems and energy-efficient AI for autonomous driving.
Inside the car is an art-deco atmosphere of glass panels, polished brass and blue velvet seating that replace the typical leather and carbon fibre combination you see in high end cars.
