Italian Yacht Builder, Benetti have revealed their latest project, and there are rumours it will be the largest ever engineering-platform based yacht. “Project Life” is an 85-meter superyacht set to begin construction in September 2025, delivering in 2030.
Who is the client you may ask? Well there isn’t one yet, but with a price tag likely over the $200 million mark, the pool of candidates will be quite small.

This yacht is about space. Espen Øino, a well known name in the industry of creating sleek and beautiful vessels, is designing the project, with a vision to create seamless indoor-outdoor living with plenty of areas for lounging, socialising and enjoying all the sea has to offer.
At the stern, there are plans for a large swim platform that connects the main deck via twin staircases, and at the centre you’ll find a swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers. The idea is to keep everything open and accessible, making it so easy to go from sunbathing to swimming to diving – because that wasn’t already easy enough.
Benetti is making a heck of a statement to other yacht builders, with the project being the largest on-spec yacht the Italian shipyard has ever attempted, meaning it’s being built without a specific owner lined up yet. Their confidence in the design and the market is somewhat commendable, as it will not be cheap to build with a lingering feeling that no one has bought it yet hanging over their heads. Having said that, these types of yachts that attract the uber-wealthy tend to get snapped up quickly, so it’s a reasonable decision.

With delivery expected in 2030 there is a long way to go, and a lot of this is still in the speculation phase, but for those who take a keen interest in sailing off into the sunset, it will be a billionaire boat to keep an eye on.
